Professor Gao makes the academic presentation

        Invited by the key laboratory of the Intelligent control and decision-making of complex system as well as School of Automation, professor Gao Zhiqiang from the Advanced Technology Center of the United States Cleveland State University makes academic presentation on "From Negative Feedback to the ADRC" to our students and staff on January 11th afternoon. The presentation will be held at Room 104 in the Graduate Building.
        Professor Gao Zhiqiang went to the U.S. In 1985, and he got Master's Degree and PhD in 1987 and 1990 respectively in the University of Notre Dame. Now he is the director of the CSU advanced control technology center as a lifelong associate professor. Professor Gao Zhiqiang published nearly one hundred papers on international first-class journals and conferences, and he repeatedly opened up new research directions to solve multiple engineering problems in practice. The Advanced Control Technology Center led by him has won NASA's support for a long time. He also cooperated with researcher Han Jingqing from Chinese Academy of Science and solved the problem of parameter tuning in ADRC control technology. His method was characterized with efficiency, robustness, energy-saving, and easiness, and broke down the monopoly of PID in industry. His method achieved amazing energy-saving effect in the production line, as a result, many international companies applied it such as Texas Instrument, Parker-Hannifin. Profess Gao has been invited several times for academic reports as well as short courses by NASA, Rockwell Automation, Bendix, Energizer, Italy Politecnico di Torino, Tsinghua University, Tianjin University and Chinese Academy of Science. Professor Gao's lectures explored with the audience about how to cross the gap between theory and practice in control area from the historical, cultural, practical and rational points of view. As a rigorous and creative engineer in control area, Professor Gao is characterized by his novelty, intellect, philosophy.
        In his lecture, professor Gao analyzed the development history of cybernetics, from Maxwell's fly-ball regulator to Poncelet's improvement; from Chinese ancient compass car to modern ADRC; from Russian Invariance principle and Dual-channel Technology to Synovial Control; from Bode-Nyquist's analysis in frequency domain toward feedback amplifiers to modern control theory, etc.. Professor Gao tried to prospect the present and the future based on those achievements before. In the following discussion, present students and staff put forward their interested questions, and discussed lively with Mr. Gao.
